Lalibela is known for its unique and extraordinary rock-cut churches, carved out of solid rock in the 12th century during the reign of King Lalibela.
The rock-hewn churches of Lalibela are divided into two main groups: the Northern Cluster and the Southern Cluster. They are interconnected by a system of tunnels and walkways.
